Who this episode is for:
Anyone feeling stuck, disconnected, or overwhelmed by current events
Anyone tired of “pushing down” their feelings or pretending to be okay
Anyone longing for tools to move through darkness without losing themselves
What you’ll get from tuning in:
A practice that’s simple and repeatable, whenever you need it
Guidance on how to name and locate your feelings in your body
An invitation to breathe into that space, instead of turning away
A reminder that giving space to what’s heavy is how you reclaim your power
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what to do when the weight of the world presses so hard it feels impossible to move. When sadness, grief, anger, or despair aren’t distant ideas but are fully alive inside of you…filling your chest, breaking your heart, and demanding attention.
That’s what I’ve been feeling (particularly the past several weeks) and I wonder if you have been too.
And that’s exactly what inspired today’s How to Find Joy episode “38. From Helpless to Powerful (A Guided Practice)”.
It’s a short, guided practice to help you give presence to whatever is rising in your body and in your heart. Because I believe (in these times more than ever) that there is power in being fully present in the now. When we face our feelings rather than numb them out, something shifts. We reclaim a piece of ourselves we thought we’d lost. We make space for a kind of joy that isn’t shallow…it’s resilient. It’s grounded. It meets pain. It doesn’t bypass it (and, boy, do I feel like I want to bypass it lately).
If you want to dive deeper into why I wanted to share this practice in the first place, I hope you’ll also read my article Why Joy Matters Now More Than Ever. In that journal entry I explore how giving space to harder feelings is actually essential when the world is hurting. It’s not about being perky or pretending everything is okay. It’s about being honest. About pulling apart the binary thinking that says: either you feel broken, or you pretend you’re okay. Because there’s a whole landscape in between. And in my opinion, that’s there where truth, connection, change, and ultimately, joy live.
Questions of the week:
What did you notice when you breathed into the feelings?
Where was the heaviness in your body? Do you have a mantra that helps you reclaim your power? Share it!
If you listen and try the practice, I’d love to hear how it lands for you in the comments below.
Because this isn’t a solo journey. Community helps. You help. And together, we’re building a Joy Rebellion…not by ignoring the pain, but by showing up anyway. By breathing, feeling, and choosing something softer, gentler, stronger!
One brave, messy, present step at a time,
June
